The $30 minimum only applies when you're paying cash without any credits on your account — if you have credits, there's no minimum at all. And you never lose the difference: if your cash order comes to less than $30, the remainder is automatically added to your account as credits at the base rate. For example, a $14 order pays the $30 minimum and receives 4,000 credits ($16 worth) back for future orders.
